Michael Olise Injury Update: Hodgson Downplays Severity

Crystal Palace's Roy Hodgson dismisses concerns over Olise and Eze injuries

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has played down the severity of injuries to Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze after the duo were forced to withdraw from the Eagles' pre-season friendly against Watford on Saturday.

Olise pulled up with a hamstring issue during the warm-up, while Eze suffered a knock to his knee in the opening minutes of the game. Both players were replaced and did not return to the action.

Hodgson Provides Reassuring Update on Olise and Eze

Speaking after the match, Hodgson said he was not unduly concerned about either injury. He said:

"It's too early to say how serious either injury is, but I don't think either is a major problem. We'll assess them both in the next few days and see how they are."
Hodgson's comments will come as a relief to Palace fans, who have been impressed with Olise's performances since joining the club from Reading in the summer. The winger has scored five goals in nine games for Palace, including a stunning long-range effort against Arsenal last month. Eze has also been in good form for Palace, and his absence would be a blow to Hodgson's plans for the new season. The playmaker has been a key player for the Eagles since joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2020, and he was instrumental in helping the club secure a top-half finish last season. Palace will be hoping that both Olise and Eze are fit to return to action soon, as they prepare for their opening Premier League game of the season against Chelsea on August 14.
